Police Chief Edward Orgon reported several operational developments to the Village Board on April 7, 2025, including multi-agency active-shooter training and equipment purchases.
Chief Orgon said members of the department participated in active-shooter training March 18–20, 2025, with the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office and Chippewa Falls Police Department. The department also spent $14,646 with General Communications to outfit Squad 25, reusing many items from Squad 19, which the minutes say will be sold.
Chief Orgon also described a Feb. 26 traffic stop on South Prairie View Road that began when he stopped a green Toyota Camry for lacking a rear license plate. According to the chief’s report, inconsistent statements and signs of possible drug impairment led to a probation search and a consent search that produced a small baggie with crystal-like residue. Officers later found a Radnor sunglass case containing two small plastic baggies of an estimated two grams of crystal-like substance, a used smoking pipe and other items officers suspected were related to methamphetamine use. The driver was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia (methamphetamine) and felony bail jumping; a passenger was arrested and, upon arrival at Chippewa County Jail, provided an additional small plastic baggie containing approximately three grams of crystal-like substance to jail staff.
The board received the chief’s update; no additional action was recorded on the arrest beyond the department’s report.
