Engineering presents transportation‑initiative revenue update; staff flags venue as likely funding target
Summary
Tracy Lund told the MEDC the transportation infrastructure program (adopted 2022) generated about $1.7M for MEDC and $1.7M for MCDC in FY25 (total $3.4M) and a program total of $7.2M since 2022; staff said funding is expected to be directed toward a venue project but final direction remains to be determined.

Tracy Lund, assistant director of engineering, briefed the MEDC board on Dec. 16 about the transportation infrastructure initiative and the economic development program created in 2022 to dedicate sales tax revenue to roadway projects that support economic development. Lund said FY25 actual revenue was "about 1,700,000 for both MEDC and MCDC. So, a total of 3,400,000," and that the program total since 2022 is about $7,200,000.
Lund said staff maintain a list of eligible roadway projects; some projects have dropped off because they were completed or discontinued, while others were added and budgets adjusted. "Staff's current expectation is that that funding would be directed towards a venue project. But that, of course, is to be determined," Lund said. Board members asked clarifying questions about the rationale behind parkland dedication fees at tonight's council work session and about aligning dedication fees with market conditions.
Staff will continue to refine the eligible-project list and return with additional budget and project sequencing information for council and board consideration.
