Aaron Warner, executive director of Visit McKinney, told the board his team held the organization's first hotelier-only meeting with about 35 attendees and said the tally of current development in McKinney amounts to about $1.7 billion in capital investment. "At the end of just what I put together and the numbers that that were given to me in the presentation, it was a $1,700,000,000, number at the end of just stuff happening in McKinney right now," Warner said.
Warner also described a lighthearted seasonal marketing campaign: a community-submitted map of inflatable turkeys distributed across the city. He said more than 340 turkeys had been submitted and that each entry includes a name and story, and he encouraged board members and residents to participate and view the map.
Warner asked board members to help amplify tourism outreach and noted Visit McKinney intends to repeat the hotelier forums quarterly to improve hospitality collaboration.
