Resident urges written confirmation of Primex coverage for local officers working with ICE
Summary
Public commenter Bob Baker urged the Selectboard to obtain written confirmation from Primex that the town's insurance covers police when assisting or integrated with ICE operations; Town Manager Tim Stevens said Primex staff told him by phone that existing coverage is sufficient but Baker requested a written statement.

At the public comment period Bob Baker asked whether Colebrook’s insurance carrier Primex explicitly covers town employees and officers when they are engaged in activities associated with ICE. Baker said his concern stems from language in the town’s agreement with ICE and wanted written confirmation from Primex that the policy covers that work.
Town Manager Tim Stevens said he spoke with Primex’s claims representative, who indicated the town’s existing policy covers people engaged in town business and that when officers act in an immigration‑enforcement capacity responsibility shifts to the federal government. Baker said he had not previously heard that explanation and offered a draft letter to Primex requesting written confirmation; Stevens confirmed the town can consider whether to seek a written statement.
