Staff to issue RFP next month; new transit contract expected to begin Jan. 2, 2027

Ryan McCutcheon told the board that the City of McKinney holds the current scope of work and staff plan to release a request for proposals next month to select software providers, drivers and vehicle suppliers for the Collin County Transit program. "Our plan is to release the request for a proposal next month," he said, and staff intend to return to the board for contract approval in the early summer so the awardee has 5–6 months to prepare if the incumbent does not win.
McCutcheon said the intended contract start date is 2027-01-02. He also indicated the board will consider forming or using a local government corporation to manage the program and that staff will present more details in a future board packet before the recommended award.
