During public comment Laurie Serle (speaker 12), a member of the historic commission and the Old Campbell County Historical Society, described a proposed memorandum of understanding under which the society would serve as the repository for city historic materials. Serle said the arrangement would be useful but urged the council to treat it as a temporary solution and to pursue grants that could bring historic holdings back into city‑controlled facilities such as the Beavers House.
Following discussion, the historic commission asked for more time to negotiate custodial language and contingency terms in the event the society could not continue to house items. The council granted the request and voted to defer item 24‑055 to the next month so the commission and the society can better specify what happens to deposited items.
