Planning commission backs True Honey Teas storage and packaging SUP for Old Valley Pike, forwards recommendation to supervisors

The Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend approval of Special Use Permit 26-03-01 to allow wholesale and warehouse activities for True Honey Teas at 16409 Old Valley Pike (3.373 acres).
Associate Planner McKenzie Allen presented the application and agency comments, noting that VDOT requires elimination of one of the two entrances under recent Access Management regulations and that the proposal is consistent with Comprehensive Plan goals 4.1 (attract target industries) and 4.4 (foster a welcoming employment environment). Staff recommended conditions including building permits, land disturbance and stormwater permitting if thresholds are met, and compliance with Virginia Department of Health and VDOT standards before operations begin.
Applicant Chris Savage of True Honey Teas described the planned use: "The building will mainly be used for the storage and shipment of ingredients used for teas. It sometimes may be used for tea tasting." Debbie Keller moved to approve the SUP with staff-recommended conditions; Eunice Terndrup seconded and the motion passed on a 7-0 roll call. Chair Gary Lantz said the Commission will forward its recommendation to the Board of Supervisors.
