Salem supervisors raise paving spec to 19MM, advertise 2025 road project; one supervisor withholds vote

At the May 21 meeting Salem Township supervisors voted to change specifications for the 2025 road paving project, moving roads previously set at 9.5 mm to 19 mm. Kerry Jobe explained the change: "To keep it simple, everything will go to 19MM," and listed affected streets including the village portion of Forbes Road, Charles Street, parts of Orr Road and sections of Rosewood, plus milling of Forbes Road.
The board also voted to advertise the project for bids. The advertisement will seek bids in two formats to widen contractor responses: (1) installation only using materials purchased through the COG, and (2) package bids where bidder supplies materials and installation. On the advertisement motion Ken Trumbetta and Kerry Jobe voted in favor; Bob Zundel did not vote, and the motion passed by majority. Supervisors discussed pugmilling and whether to include it in the advertisement; Solicitor Falatovich said he would review costars contract numbers and that "Pugmilling is not a part of this advertisement."
