Salem supervisors back Seanor Farm Park ballfield grant; $45,000 local match required

The Salem Township Board of Supervisors voted May 21 to approve a letter of support and Resolution 14-2025 to apply for a PA DCED Greenways, Trails and Recreation grant for the Seanor Farm Park Phase 3 ballfield project.
Kathy Hamilton, president of the Salem Township Recreation Board, told supervisors she wrote the grant application and explained that "DCED requires a 15% match for the $250k grant." She said the Recreation Initiative will fundraise approximately $170,000 toward a larger ballfield than originally planned, and the township's 15% match would be about $45,000. The motion to authorize the grant application and designate an agent to act on behalf of the township passed unanimously.
Park volunteers reported erosion controls are nearly ready, camps have been adjusted for rain dates, and community events at the park are scheduled through the summer. Supervisors said fundraising and grant administration will continue to be coordinated between the Recreation Board and township officials.
