Council hears Pineview boat limits, cemetery fill contract and landfill timing concerns

Councilmember Sandy Hunter reported from a March 10 Pineview meeting: limited parking at alternate launch sites will lead to boat limits on the reservoir, use of a cul‑de‑sac west of Trapper’s Loop for boat spraying, and the prospect of draining the reservoir in September for pipe repairs. Hunter also raised a question about whether landfill dump revenue should be earmarked to the landfill account or a new cemetery fund.
Councilmember Lewis Johnson said Lonny Bailey secured a contract to deliver 8,000 tons of fill to the new cemetery; he and Bailey are planning a lean‑to structure at the site and discussed the possibility of opening the landfill earlier (suggested date April 11) given warmer temperatures. Councilmember Bruce Ahlstrom noted an upcoming FEMA floodplain mapping meeting and urged local input before maps are finalized and floated the idea of a partnership with the new city to maintain the cemetery.
