The Wadena County Board of Commissioners on April 7 adopted Resolution 2026-14, approving a Conditional Use Permit to allow Jeffrey L. and Shannon M. Lausten to operate a wedding venue with an accessory campground in Section 18 of Huntersville Township.
Planning & Zoning/Building Services Administrator Deana Malone presented the Planning Commission’s recommendation to approve the permit and described the public opposition and the mitigating measures recommended by the commission. "It is the recommendation of the Planning Commission to approve the Conditional Use Permit," Malone told the board. Applicant Jeffrey Lausten was present for questions during the discussion.
Commissioner Bryan Winkels moved to adopt Resolution 2026-14 and approve the permit with conditions; Commissioner Jon Kangas seconded the motion, and the board voted unanimously to approve it. The action includes standard conditions intended to address neighborhood impacts such as traffic and lighting; the Planning Commission emphasized public notification and mitigation opportunities during its review.
