Adult treatment court winds down; committee structures and subcommittee reviews planned

Judge Ed Nordstrand reported that adult treatment court has six remaining participants after two recent graduations and said, "On our current track, I expect we will complete our work by February if all goes well." He recommended dissolving the treatment-court subcommittee because the group repeatedly failed to achieve a quorum.
Separately, Judge Waterman said the criminal justice subcommittee will undertake a review of justice support services to evaluate resource allocation and capacity. Waterman reported the department had about 1,000 open criminal cases at the end of June and noted the subcommittee will examine whether current staffing (one tester and three case managers in justice support) is sufficient. The subcommittee scheduled a review for August and will report back to the full CJCC.
The chair invited volunteers to help repurpose subcommittee effort toward strategic planning and asked staff to provide an outline for discussion at the September meeting.
