Utilities Director Jill Stevens told the board the town will rent a brush hog to clear overgrowth and expects to add “a couple of days, maybe a week” to the current rental to reach additional easements. Stevens said clearing will allow crews to inspect lines more thoroughly and that the town anticipates discovering some inflow and infiltration that will require mitigation: “We anticipate finding at least some I and I that will need mitigation.”
Board members asked whether the town has the equipment and whether clearing could be done in‑house. Stevens said the town rents the brush hog and that the plan is to keep easements maintained going forward, typically every other year depending on regrowth. She said the sewer system is otherwise built out and that any future expansions would be driven by private development.
The chair called for a voice vote and the appropriation was approved; the request will be forwarded to the Board of Finance as required.
