Lindsey Harmening advocated for a four-day school week instead of staff cuts and asked the board to preserve emotional learning supports. Lena Macnab and Katie Murphy also warned about the long-term impacts of pay and staffing choices on retirement and student services.
Board Chair Jeff Wickersham told speakers the board does not take these decisions lightly; the board later amended the agenda to hear from the certificated union president and to allow additional public comment before acting on a RIF resolution.
