Salem adopts resolution extending time for FTMSA corrective action under DEP consent order

The Salem Township Board adopted Resolution #17-2025 approving a one-year extension to the Consent Order and Agreement involving the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and multiple regional authorities, giving the Franklin Township Municipal Sanitary Authority (FTMSA) additional time to complete modeling and combined corrective-action planning.
Solicitor Falatovich explained the resolution extends the compliance period to allow FTMSA to perform additional modeling and flow studies and to arrive at a combined corrective action plan. Supervisor Kerry Jobe said Salem is "99% in compliance with the COA," and the extension is intended to provide time for FTMSA to verify small remaining fixes and to determine whether additional measures are required. The motion passed unanimously.
The resolution ties Salem's compliance schedule to regional sanitary authority work and indicates the township will monitor FTMSA's studies and follow-up repairs.
