The Salem Township Board approved annual fire tax contributions of $35,000 each to the Slickville and Forbes Road volunteer fire departments and authorized distribution of locally collected service-tax and state aid to both departments.
The Board approved a 25% share of 2024 LST collections ($35,056 total, $17,528 per department) and an equal split of Commonwealth State Aid received in 2025 ($43,779.72 total; $21,889.86 each). Forbes Road volunteer firefighter Adam Bayura told the Board the new truck "will be in on September 23, 2025," adding that replacement costs have climbed: "If the exact truck was ordered today, it would cost $1.15 mill. This truck cost $609K three years ago at the time of order." All motions passed unanimously.
The Board's approvals commit recurring and one-time allotments to support local emergency services and were presented as part of the township's regular budget and appropriations process.
