The Salem Township Board of Supervisors tabled final approval of the Athena Drive consolidation plan (Tax Map Parcels 57-04-00-0-088 and 57-04-00-0-089) at the July 16 meeting because the permitting status for an on-lot sanitary sewer system remains unresolved. The plan, intended to consolidate two parcels into one buildable lot, includes conditions requiring that the two existing single-family homes be razed and that a new single-family home be served by a proposed on-lot sanitary sewer absorption area and public water connections. The board listed additional plan edits needed such as clearer labels for building footprints and identification of groundwater conveyances if present.
Solicitor Falatovich cautioned supervisors that acting on the plan before resolving the sanitary-sewer issue would effectively pre-empt the decision on the septic permit, saying the board "can't act on this because whatever decision is made on the sanitary sewage issue is going to implicate this plan." Supervisor Connie challenged whether preliminary approval with conditions constitutes official action; the solicitor responded that preliminary approval with conditions has been used in the township's past practice. The motion to table was carried unanimously.
