The Public Service Committee adopted an amendment to House Bill 1659 and voted 5–0 to move the bill to the full committee. Chair (S1) presided as the amendment (code 014365) was read on the floor and placed on the bill without objection.
Chairman Moon (S6), who explained the amendment, said the change "deletes section 2" while keeping Section 1 to keep home addresses of candidates for offices such as judge, chancellor, district attorney and public defender confidential for safety while still allowing collection of the information for filing purposes. The committee clerk announced the vote as "5 ayes and 0 no's," and the chair confirmed the bill will advance to the full committee for further consideration.
