Town reports buried water-line leak, cemetery sprinkler work and ongoing park projects

Water board manager Ron Gault reported discovery of a buried leak in the town’s culinary water system that required breaking concrete to access buried pipes; staff recommended replacing both affected pipes and repairing the concrete. Gault also said a nearby property owner had requested to install an electric fence by the water plant reservoir; staff advised the owner would need an excavation permit and a legal agreement if the town’s power were to be used.
Councilmember Lewis Johnson approved funds for cemetery sprinkler head replacements. In materials attached from an earlier work session, staff recommended up to $5,000 for a drinking-fountain/bottle-filling station at Huntsville Park; that item was discussed in a prior meeting and was part of ongoing park-maintenance planning. Councilmembers also reported ongoing repairs to the Aldous cabin, signage and parking improvements, and volunteer engagement on preservation projects.
