Council adopts six-month moratorium on sewer ordinance enforcement to allow review

The Stevenson City Council on Feb. 19 moved to adopt a resolution establishing a six-month moratorium on the implementation and enforcement of the city's sewer ordinance. City Attorney Robert Muth explained the action places a pause on fees, fines, penalties and collection activity tied to the ordinance to allow staff and council time for review and analysis.
Council clarified the moratorium's duration will not extend beyond Aug. 31, 2026. The motion to adopt the moratorium was made by Councilmember Dave Cox and seconded by Councilmember Lucy Lauser; the council voted aye on the action. Staff will schedule the required public hearing within statutory timeframes during the moratorium period.
