Conservation District to buy new desks; county to rebate cost from next year’s rent once lease is signed

Representatives of the Conservation District explained their office is being downsized and that existing desks are at or near the end of their useful life. The district proposed buying replacement desks now and receiving a rebate from next year’s rent to cover the cost; the county would retain ownership of the desks under the proposed arrangement.

The county and district agreed on a contingency: the county will rebate $1,800 to the district from next year’s rent once a lease is finalized. An agency representative summarized the plan: "So if that that process is agreeable, you can put together a boilerplate lease... the district will order those desks, though, and have them arriving here next week sometime," (S9) and commissioners confirmed the desks would remain county property and be offset as a reimbursement in next year’s rent. The motion to approve the contingent rebate and to require a signed lease passed during the meeting.

Board members said the lease will clarify responsibilities for county equipment and set expectations for desk condition and maintenance when renters leave; the rebate figure discussed in the motion was $1,800 and the county will require that desks be treated as county property under the agreement.
