Road and cemetery work planned; fire trucks pass pump tests, hose testing set for June

R. Chandler, the town’s Fire/Road Commissioner and Facilities Maintenance Director, provided multiple operations updates. He reported that Brookside Cemetery has been graded and that Greenwood will be graded next. Holiday lights have been removed and new flag brackets installed with longer screws and sturdier poles; monuments will be cleaned prior to Memorial Day.
Chandler said JE Tracey will repair a damaged spot on Summer Harbor Road and on Beach Street this week, and the town expects the street sweeper to arrive this week. The town received an estimate to remove asbestos flooring in the gym garage and hopes the contractor will be on site in a few weeks. On public-safety maintenance, Chandler reported the fire department completed pump testing and all trucks passed; hose testing is scheduled for June.
