The Clinton County Planning Commission spent part of its May 14 meeting discussing proposed zoning changes to allow self-storage facilities in A-2 and A-3 zoning districts. Commissioners noted support for permitting self-storage along highway corridors and proposed limiting such uses to the first 300 feet of the road right-of-way within the county’s Access Control Overlay Zone to regulate access points and placement.
After that discussion, Commissioner Stephanie Schafer moved, supported by Brian Byars, to table the discussion on outdoor storage in the A-2 zoning district. The motion carried unanimously (7-0). No ordinance amendment was adopted at the meeting; staff and commissioners indicated further drafting and review would continue as part of the overall zoning ordinance amendment process.
