Page County approves participation in combined opioid settlement with six remnant defendants

County Attorney Michael Helm introduced a resolution approving Page County’s participation in a proposed combined settlement with six remnant defendants connected to opioid litigation (Associated Pharmacies/American Associated Pharmacies; J.M. Smith Corporation; Louisiana Wholesale Drug Company; Morris & Dickson Co.; North Carolina Mutual Wholesale Drug Company; and United Natural Foods, Inc., including subsidiaries). The settlement framework calls for approximately $97,625,000 in nationwide payments by the six remnant defendants to resolve related claims by state subdivisions.
Helm told the Board outside opioid litigation counsel recommended participation and the County Attorney concurred. The Board adopted the resolution directing the County Attorney and/or the County Administrator to execute documents and releases necessary to effectuate Page County’s participation.
