Superintendent says commissioners may assume $100,000 risk to keep Forest Youth Success running

Colvard said County Commissioners have indicated they will assume $100,000 of the district's risk if the county receives a signed agreement by May 22; the district would still carry about $7,000 of potential unreimbursed risk should federal reimbursement not materialize.
Colvard said Jim Kowalkowski from the Rural Education Center will travel to Washington, D.C., on her behalf to advocate for Student Resiliency and Success (SRS) funding to reduce district exposure. The timeline given by the county makes continued participation in FYS contingent on the county receiving the signed agreement before May 22, and the district will continue to monitor federal funding prospects before finalizing its budget commitments for the program.
