The Stevenson-Carson School District Board of Directors voted May 8 to approve Resolution 24/25-5, authorizing the district to issue an additional reduction-in-force (RIF) notice for certificated staff tied to low transitional-kindergarten (TK) enrollment.
Superintendent Ingrid Colvard told the board the district identified roughly 16 possible TK students and that only two TK families attended the TK/Kindergarten open house; three kindergarten families attended. Colvard said the deadline for RIF notices to certificated staff is May 15, so the district needs to issue notices now but can restore positions if enrollment increases when final schedules are set. Colvard also said the 2024–25 enrollment counts will be the enrollment cap for the TK program next year.
Mark Chambers moved to approve Resolution 24/25-5; Lisa Birney seconded, and the motion carried. The district intends to issue RIF notices in the next few days. The board did not record a roll-call tally in the minutes.
