Public works warns of declining Rock Creek intake; estimates $500,000 needed for backup source

Cody Rosander, Stevenson Public Works Director, told the council at the March 5 special meeting that intake volumes at the Rock Creek intake have fallen and that divers will be deployed to assess potential damage or blockage. Rosander said low winter snowpack has increased the risk that summertime supply will not meet community demand.
Rosander described testing of the Hegewald Well as short-term only and identified developing a second water source with sufficient capacity as a priority. He estimated the potential cost for design, physical work and completion at approximately $500,000 and said he is meeting with Economic Development Council staff to explore available funding options.
