The court accepted a recommendation from county-engineering consultants to award the Thomas Road construction contract to G Rod Construction. Dustin Blaylock of LaFriese and Nichols reported bids ranged from roughly $3.6 million to $4.3 million with an engineer's estimate of $3.7 million; the recommended award was $3,668,448.35.
The court voted to award the construction contract and separately approved a $391,989 amendment for construction-phase services (inspection, part-time inspector, materials testing and construction engineering). Commissioners discussed the project budget and were told the bid pricing landed below the overall budget by roughly $80,000–$90,000. The motions to award and to approve construction-phase management passed by recorded voice vote with no dissents noted.
