The Moultonborough Planning Board scheduled a July 29 work session to review and finalize proposed changes to the board’s Rules of Procedure and moved the start time to 6:00 p.m. at the library to accommodate members.
Town Planner Charles Wise said he will spend five to ten minutes reviewing salient changes that align the draft with state model language. Member Cornelia Schneider will deliver an independent review that used AI tools to interrogate the proposed changes. Mr. Wise described the exercise as two‑part: a substantive review and a demonstration of how a board member used AI to advance understanding of planning and zoning. “I will spend approximately five to ten minutes reviewing the salient changes to the draft Rules of Procedure, which continue to be harmonized with state model language,” Wise said during Other Business.
Board members offered preliminary feedback aimed at clarifying waiver timing, when public input is opened and closed during hearings, and correcting document dates and references. The board also discussed additional items on the work session agenda including a Lakes Region Planning Commission product responding to a Housing Chapter recommendation and a Fire Chief presentation about ISO ratings and potential homeowner insurance impacts.
What’s next: the work session is intended to produce a draft the board can finalize at a subsequent meeting; Mr. Wise and Chair Bartlett will confer in advance to confirm hearing sequence language.
