Rogers County approves participation in national opioid settlement, authorizes signature

The Rogers County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously April 27 to participate in the national opioid settlement with six regional distributor and dispenser defendants and authorized staff member Todd Wagner to sign settlement documents on the county's behalf. Commissioner Steve Hendrix moved for participation; Commissioner DeLozier seconded and the roll-call vote was recorded as DeLozier-aye, Hendrix-aye, Burrows-aye.

The settlement named defendants including Associated Pharmacies, Inc. (and American Associated Pharmacies), J M Smith Corporation, Louisiana Wholesale Drug Company, Inc., Morris and Dickson Co., North Carolina Mutual Wholesale Drug Company, Inc., and United Natural Foods, Inc. (including subsidiaries SuperValu and Advantage Logistics). The board took the action in unfinished business following prior tabling on April 20. No public comment was recorded on this item.

The board did not take action on a separate agenda item to allocate Opioid Abatement Direct Settlement funds to supplement the Rogers County & City of Claremore Opioid Abatement Project. That discussion was presented by Chairman Ron Burrows and left without a board vote. The county did record the authorization for a county representative to execute settlement paperwork to secure the county's share of any distributed funds.
