President Pete C. Acker asked for a motion to approve the April minutes. Commissioner Ann Coleman moved to approve and Sheriff Tim Callahan seconded; the voice vote was unanimous and the motion carried.
Later in the meeting Warden Mac McDuffie asked the board to permit the jail to seek bids to replace a leaking hot water tank after reporting that the parts alone would cost roughly $22,000 (installation and labor were not included in that estimate). Vice President Timothy McGonigle moved to authorize obtaining bids and Sheriff Tim Callahan seconded; the voice vote was unanimous and the motion carried. The authorization allows staff to solicit bids and later return with bids and full cost estimates for board approval.
