Board approves Law Librarian contract, out-of-state travel and a gambling permit; allocates economic development funds

The Carlton County Board approved a Law Librarian contract for $7,500 annually effective Sept. 1, 2026 through Aug. 31, 2027, as recommended by the Law Library Board. The Board also approved out-of-state travel for an Attorney to attend the National Association of Community and Restorative Justice Conference in New Orleans on July 7–10, 2026; the minutes state travel expenses were covered by a grant.
Additionally, by resolution 26-049 the Board acknowledged and approved a Minnesota Lawful Gambling Application (LG220) submitted by the Blackhoof Firefighters Relief Association for activities at the Blackhoof Fire Hall on Oct. 12, 2026. As part of Consent Agenda business the Board also approved using up to $10,000 of Economic Development Funds for a State of the County event tentatively scheduled for Nov. 19 at Black Bear Event Center; funds were described as supporting venue costs, program materials, logistics and event coordination.
