The county authorized Highway Department purchases of corrugated metal pipe, bridge materials and grader blades from Truenorth Steel Company using prices set through the County of Beadle's competitive bid process.
Resolution #26-13 cites SDCL 5-18A-22, which permits Brookings County to procure materials from an active contract awarded by another governmental entity within the previous 12 months. The resolution records that Truenorth Steel was the lowest responsible bidder in the County of Beadle process held Jan. 13, 2026, and authorizes purchases on an as-needed basis at those prices.
Highway Superintendent Brian Gustad provided the background information during the meeting; the motion carried unanimously. The county finance office will retain a copy of the County of Beadle bid specifications and pricing, per the resolution language.
