Kingston swears in mayor, two new council members as term begins

Judge Terry Wheeler administered the oath of office to Michael McFarland as mayor and to council members Reggie Applin and Patresha Northgraves as the Kingston City Council convened Jan. 5, 2026. The meeting was called to order at 6:01 p.m. and Payton Silvers led the invocation and pledge.
City Clerk Kelly L. Ensley recorded that in attendance were council members Kathleen (Kate) Posey, Payton Silvers, Patresha Northgraves, Reggie Applin and Mayor Michael McFarland, along with Treasurer Grayson Brown, Chief TJ Sosebee and Attorney Elliot Noll. No members of the public signed in to speak. The council moved quickly into organizational business, including selection of a Mayor Pro Tem and a schedule update.
