Staff said the proposed policy would clarify when the county hires a vendor to make repairs versus when it reimburses residents, what documentation is required, and when a claim should be processed through insurance.
County counsel and commissioners discussed the role of right-of-way rules and whether masonry mailboxes or other obstructions might affect an insurance claim. The court took no immediate action and asked staff (Brianna) and the county attorney to prepare a draft policy that defines thresholds, documentation standards, and coordination with insurance and the sheriff's seizure funds when applicable.
