Parker County finance staff said the county will activate the financial portion of its new Tyler Munis accounting system on March 1 and begin hands-on end-user training in early February.
"Our first training for end users are going to start next week, February 5, and we have another one on the 11th and 12th," Brianna, finance staff, told the commissioners. She said training sessions will include morning and afternoon options at the county Emergency Operations Center so staff can log in and practice before go-live. Brianna outlined cutoff dates for purchase orders (new orders by Feb. 12) and accounts-payable processing intended to minimize manual data entry when the system switches.
The county plans to bring payroll and human-resources functions into the new system on April 1. To reduce disruption, the county is considering issuing checks early for the Feb. 23 court cycle and holding them in a safe until the court approves them; Brianna said the checks would not be released until after court approval. Commissioners asked about logistics and Brianna confirmed that departments that lack laptops should coordinate with IT for equipment at training sessions.
The schedule and cutoff dates are intended to give purchasing and the auditor's office time to enter outstanding purchase orders into Munis so accounts-payable can process payments with accurate PO balances. The court did not take separate action on the rollout during the meeting; staff will return with any follow-up materials as needed.
