A variance was granted to allow a 10' x 14' addition with a 6-foot wrap-around deck and an attached garage on lakefront property owned by Mike Syrstad. The northern deck support post would be 18 feet from the highest known water elevation, which represented a variance from the Lake Park setback standard.
Staff noted the structure would not be in Zone A or Zone B wellhead protection areas and that the residence itself is not in the floodplain though the parcel’s eastern edge is. A prior variance (2010var008) for the property was also noted. The applicant did not add new comments during the hearing and the board approved the variance 9–0.
Board members placed findings of fact on file. The staff report described elevation differences on the parcel and noted the addition would sit farther above the lakeside grade than other parts of the house.
