Commissioners approve loan of historic courthouse decorative piece to Bullock Museum

Bill (county historian) described a decorative cover—referred to colloquially in the meeting as "the squirrel"—that was discovered during courthouse restoration and offered for display at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin. The county representative said the museum requested the artifact for a roughly 10-month loan tied to the courthouse-restoration anniversary.

"It'll be for a 10 month display at the Bullock Museum," the presenter said, describing how the artifact was discovered when false ceilings were removed during restoration and how the museum planned to insure it. County counsel reviewed the standard loan agreement and the court authorized the county judge to sign the agreement; the motion carried 5-0.

Commiss ioners praised the restoration work and noted the loan would bring recognition to Parker County's historic courthouse.
