Court approves Komatsu contract for Jim Wright House condition documents; declines presentation option

Parker County staff told the court an 83-page condition assessment for the Jim Wright House is complete, and Commissioners approved a Komatsu Architecture proposal to prepare phased construction documents and specifications for roof, exterior and windows at a cost of $29,600.
Brenda McClurkin described the work as necessary to make the house watertight and to document interior and exterior conditions. She also described using lidar scanning (including drone work) to capture the existing conditions because original drawings were unavailable. The court approved using Buildings & Grounds funds for the work. Komatsu had offered a $3,900 presentation by firm principals; commissioners voted to conserve the funds and read the report rather than pay for an additional presentation.
Commissioners recognized members of the historical commission and the facilities committee who supported the project; staff will return with construction-phase recommendations if the documents indicate repair or restoration needs.
