Diana Aslan, executive director of the Children's Advocacy Center of Parker County, asked the Commissioners Court to proclaim April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month and to support two awareness efforts: display of blue pinwheels on the courthouse lawn (on behalf of CASA Hope for Children) and lighting the courthouse blue during April as a visible sign of prioritizing child-abuse prevention.
"With that, we respectfully request the Court's approval to proclaim April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Parker County," Aslan said. She outlined a coordinated local network of service providers that includes Child Protective Services, CASA, juvenile probation, law enforcement, medical and mental-health partners and faith communities.
The court approved the proclamation and the two awareness requests; the motion carried by voice vote 5-0. County officials thanked the assembled child-protection partners for their work and agreed to the requested photo opportunity and courthouse lighting.
