Cambridge School Committee convenes special meeting and moves to executive session on non-union contract talks

The Cambridge School Committee opened a virtual special meeting that the clerk said was called "by order of her honor, Mary, Denise Simmons," to consider a closed strategy session on employee contract talks. The committee’s stated purpose for the executive session was "a strategy session in preparation for contract negotiations with non union personnels," the clerk read from the meeting call.

The meeting proceeded without a public-comment period and the committee moved into the closed executive session after the motion to do so was made and seconded. Members who were present for the vote included those later recorded voting to ratify executive-session action; several other members were recorded as absent. The committee reconvened in open session only to ratify the actions taken in the closed meeting and then adjourned.
