Several commissioners emphasized that scenic resources are a core local value and must be retained in the final Enhanced Energy Plan. One commissioner said they do not want the EEP adopted "without our scenic resources," and RPC staff agreed to add or reword a scenic-resources section and to include marked-up town maps showing locally identified special places.
Commissioners discussed using the town plan's scenic-resources list and referencing those locations in the EEP so siting reviews and regional reviewers can recognize locally important viewsheds. The commission asked staff to fold identified scenic areas into the EEP's preferred-areas and constraints sections and to present the revised language and maps at the July meeting.
