SkyWest and United preparing for Essential Air Service flights at Lancaster starting June 2; inaugural event scheduled June 3

Lancaster Airport staff reported preparations are underway for Essential Air Service flights operated by SkyWest and United, scheduled to begin June 2, 2026. Executive Director Ed Foster told the board that carriers are receiving equipment and conducting staff training ahead of the first flights.
Staff said SkyWest plans two daily flights except Tuesdays and Saturdays, when there will be one daily flight. Airport staff are working with counsel and SkyWest to finalize a lease and operating agreement. The Director of Finance & Administration, Cheryl Martin, noted an inaugural flight celebration is scheduled for Wednesday morning, June 3 at 8 a.m. Board members noted the airlines control fares and staff will notify SkyWest and United if pricing appears inconsistent.
