CFCC presents Karen Mapp family-engagement continuum to Cambridge subcommittee

Jennifer, a member of the CFCC steering committee, framed the presentation by listing three anchor takeaways: homeschool partnerships benefit students and educators; parent participation predicts academic success across demographics; and the district now has evidence‑based elements for high‑impact family engagement. She said the group used a visual developed by the Flamboyan Foundation to illustrate a continuum from community-building events to individualized, student-centered practices.
"Parent participation is a leading predictor that supports students' academic success regardless of race, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, or cultural background," Jennifer said. She highlighted high‑impact practices on the right side of the continuum: goal‑setting conversations, regular personalized communications, data sharing and academic partnering.
CFCC recommended the district prioritize the more relational, learning‑focused practices and use the continuum to guide the new director’s work and school improvement planning.
