Mary Ellen, representing the development/emergency management team, said the county began waiving the brush-site fees last week as part of emergency management and that staff tracked roughly $1,000 in waived fees during the first week. "Last week, that was the equivalent of about 1000 dollars," she said. The court moved to extend that administrative action for two weeks to give residents more time to drop off storm debris without paying disposal fees.
Commissioners thanked volunteer fire departments and staff who coordinated drop‑offs and noted the waiver is a short-term recovery measure. The motion carried unanimously.
