IT highlights MFA grant award, AI chatbot pilot and shared-service work with Auburn

Tom Bunn, IT Director, presented a multi-part update including help-desk performance, cybersecurity grants, AI pilots and shared-services work. January help-desk metrics showed 558 new support tickets with an 80% resolution rate and an average resolution time of 1.9 hours. Bunn said equipment removal and redeployment from the County Office Building were coordinated and copier pickups scheduled.
Bunn reported the county was selected as one of 161 statewide recipients under New York State's administration of the federal State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (FY2022'FY2023) for Multi-Factor Authentication hardware tokens, part of a $9 million initiative; the award will save the county roughly $20,000 in one-time implementation costs. He outlined an internal AI chatbot (Microsoft Copilot) project to help staff locate policies and procedures in SharePoint and said AI training has begun (43% of county staff had completed training as of Feb. 3). Bunn also said Windows 11 has been deployed to over 80% of the county endpoint fleet and that IT is working on an ERP/RFP process with Tyler Technologies.
The committee accepted the update. Several projects will return to committee or require separate procurement actions as they move into formal vendor selection or budget stages.
