County Clerk reports January remittances, mortgage tax distributions and DMV activity

County Clerk Kristine Lytle presented January financial and service statistics to the Government Operations Committee. She reported total remitted revenue to the County Treasurer across County Clerk departments of $90,160.60 for January 2026, with an estimated 2026 County Clerk revenue budget of $825,150 and January revenue of $39,324.05 (YTD $39,324.05). Mortgage tax collected and distributed in January totaled $110,305.52 to the Treasurer, $52,996.59 to CENTRO and $46,903.33 to SONYMA.
On DMV operations, Lytle provided a day-by-day transaction record showing 4,388 in-office transactions and 98 online transactions for 4,486 total transactions in January; in-office retention was $34,153.42 and online retention $887.45 for total January retention of $35,040.87. The report noted an estimated 2026 DMV revenue of $630,000 and that current January actuals leave a sizable gap versus the estimate (difference -$594,959.13). The Historian's Office also reported 47 email inquiries and continued work on "America 250" historical programming.
