State, county and city emergency declarations cited as staff mobilize for potential impacts

City emergency staff told the council that state, county and city emergency declarations were in place or expanding and that internal documentation was underway to support any future reimbursement requests.
"The state issued their initial, state of emergency on the 23rd that included 41 counties," Emergency Manager Christy Matthews said, adding the state later expanded the declaration to 61 counties. She said Lee County had activated a partial Level 2 local state of emergency and that the city had authorized its local state of emergency the previous day.
Matthews said the city was operating within EOC hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., was compiling departmental activity logs and photographs for reimbursement purposes, and had issued emergency purchasing cards as a precaution. Departments were finalizing pre-storm tasks so that documentation would be ready if a federal or state reimbursement claim were later necessary.
