The Blackford County Council adopted the county2025 budget "as presented" on Sept. 4, 2024, approving the measure on a 7–0 vote after debate and procedural motions. Council member Karen Mealy moved to adopt the budget and Jim Weiseman seconded; the council then approved the Solid Waste District 2025 budget in a separate 7vote on a motion by Mealy and a second from Ryan Goodspeed.
Council discussion earlier in the meeting included debate over whether to retain funding for a third probation officer in the 2025 budget; judges and a Department of Child Services representative described the need and the council ultimately left the position in the proposed budget.
