The Yates County Legislature on May 11 authorized acceptance and appropriation of multiple state grants to support emergency communications upgrades and next-generation 911 equipment.
Resolution 233-26 appropriated $183,000 from the NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services for a Statewide Interoperable Communications Targeted Grant (SICG FY24 Targeted). Resolution 234-26 appropriated $689,655 for ESINet readiness and Resolution 235-26 appropriated $1,266,796 for NG911 deployment. The minutes record unanimous votes on these items. The resolutions instruct the Sheriff, Director of Finance and County Treasurer to receive and track the funds for the appropriate accounts and to comply with grant reporting requirements.
County staff will coordinate procurement and implementation with grant conditions and report to the Legislature and finance staff. The funds are intended to enhance the county’s communications infrastructure and readiness for emergency services.
